Happy Independence Day, Indonesia!!!

It's been a while since the date 08/17s brought a sense of patriotism in me. So for starter, here is a few of something to look at.



The most publicized picture of the first flag ceremony following the proclamation of independence, August 17, 1945. On the far left was Ir. Soekarno, Indonesia's first president, in front of him was Drs. M. Hatta, the vice president. The historical flag, sown by Mrs. Fatmawati, the president's wife, has been retired many decades ago but is always present on the independence day ceremony at Istana Merdeka. W.R. Supratman composed and played the national anthem, Indonesia Raya.


The not-so-young country's archipelago territory, slightly 3 times larger than Texas. 230 million population and counting.
