My father had been working at the ChevronTexaco's Sumatra operation for almost 29 years before he took an early retirement program --Voluntary Resignation Program, they call it-- last year. For sure, the company played a big role in the day-to- day life of our family and many other Indonesian families for that matter. They even paid for both me and my brother's whole bachelor's and part of the master's education here in the States and some portion for my sister's!

There has been rumor around saying that the company tries to walk out of Indonesian oil business, partly due to the non-renewable contract with the government. But then this morning, on a FS board much less, a former classmate of mine confirmed that Unocal, the company that he works for, is already bought by ChevronTexaco. So, so much for believing in rumors...

And then this afternoon I received this:

Mrs. C*** would like to know if you will be available on Thursday around 10:00 am to meet Mr. John Behancourt, he is a executive vice president of technology and services for ChevronTexaco Corp.
