Intermezzo, pt. II

It's been, what, 6 months since we first met? And we had promises to hang out sometime, but we never did, but we kept on bumping to each other, and everytime, I *just* had to retrieve.

And then that long midnight talk, and I --gasp-- let you hold my hand. While all along hoping that that would be the end of it, because I don't think I would ever built enough trust on you. And thank God, that was it.

But then, we go through the same cycle again, of exchanging numbers, of promises to hang out, of bumping to each other.

So what is this? The old trick of messing with a girl's head? I don't know. I think it might be working.

NB:
Silahkah muntah lagi ya, elu elu pade. Huehuheuhue...

I am too tired to think of a more proper title for this post

If last night at the Rec Center, you happened to see a girl wearing cropped black sports pants and blue baby shirt with a pin on her bangs running an average lap (the inner for "Slow Walk" lane) of a snailian 2'50" while once in a while snorting a silent laugh all by herself (more on this later)....that girl would be moi.

What happened was that the usual body slimming entourage of seven had been significantly reduced to one --hopefully, for this one time only, promise girls? Even the assistant coach bailed out on us.

When I arrived at the weight room, the coach was in the middle of the first of his three types of chess presses. In between those sets, he showed me the sets for today's training (abs and, uhm, gluteus maximus), which basically were bunches of sit-ups, legs lifting, and stuffs on Roman chair. And then, as on the previous two sessions, I was sent upstairs to the track for a 45-minute slow jogging, i.e., the cardio part of the training.

Since I didn't have that trusty MP3 player with me and no one to spare "facts" to (Ade, I miss you), I was forced to utilize the only alternative...my head, or rather the memory it contains to fill in the time.

I felt rather up-lifted today, could be because of the fun weekend --for the recap, please go read this hilarious post at Airin's. [Ain, kebaca nggak nih di trackback?]

And then, the equally hilarious chatting sessions with her, babimungil, and NY the night before, and from this afternoon: the "btw, tuh foto kok rambut semua sih?" and the "interesting avatar picture" lines.

Last but not least, and also for the centillion times since January, there were the Oh-my-what-have-I-done and the Oh-well-if-you-don't-try-you'll-never know.

Hence all the snortings.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

I probably should tell you in detail about the colorful traditional costumes people wore on the International Mass procession this evening, that I put on my mother's wedding Kebaya to join in the crowd, about my burnt-red complexion when I announced from the pulpit that everyone could follow the five intercession prayers in English, about the weird accent that followed, that my voice suddenly dropped an octave low when I read the Indonesian part while looking back and forth to the congregation and to my cheat sheet, and that JEM looked fantabolous in the Panamanian Mola dress. Heheh.

But then, there was this undescribable Brazilian cuteness in the pew in front of me, all 20-something lbs of him, with luscious lashes, smart moving eyes and unmatched curiosity towards his surrounding. I first noticed his baby fingers played with his mother's locks of hair as he demanded his father of something. At one point, he switched to twirling the beads hanging from the costume of the Maxiacha(sp?) warrior who sit next to them, and later during the sign of the peace, he astutely refused to kiss a lady friend of his mother, but gave the gentleman sitting two pews behind a firm handshake. He succesfully matched Fr. D's blessings of the bread and wine in the middle of the Eucharist, but then towards the end, he silently imitated the most reverence kneeling and hands in prayer.

How's that for a faster ticking of a biological clock?

Tick.
Tick.
Tick.

Two things

1. "...whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me."

Gets to you everytime, doesn't it?

2. Puto, evinco te.

Overheard in a CS pedestrian walk

Guy1: "I think Spanish. I mean...if you travel around the world, there are so many of the French colonies, blablabla..."
Guy2: "What about Portuguese?"
Guy1: "Heh. One country."
Yeah, I don't understand either.

But anyhow, Portuguese, as in the language, sounds romantic to me, even more than French.

Ah, blame it on the Samba, the Bossa Nova, and the Brazillian jazz. But then, there are the beaches, the Amazon, olives in everything, capoeira, Paulo Cuelho, and Pelé. A country worth exploring, no?

It's that time again...

Time for another Windows XP shenanigan on my office computer. The last major problem I had was with installing the SP2. Man, time really flies. It was on January last year.

This time what happened was that Windows Explorer and the task bar didn't run right after start up. I thought it was because I couldn't access the Che network due to expired password and had to check into local workstation instead. Failed network driver or something?

Even out of my lay person world, Safe Mode didn't work and this message kept popping up:
"Instruction at 0X10018891 referenced memory at 0X10018891. The memory could not be read."

So, I went back to normal start up, tried to access Windows Task Manager, and forced a new task on a browser since I need to google this thing up.

Several Microsoft support pages later, it looked like a Clean Boot up was in order.

I wondered how the heck I can get into "Run" if I couldn't access the start task bar. Later I found that the "New Task..." tab under the Task List could function as "Run". I, then, typed in "msconfig" and the rest was history.

The thing is, there was no "issue" found in all four (Process System.ini File, Process Win.ini File, Load Startup Items, and Load System Services). The Explorer just magically started to work again.

Heh. Unto the next shenanigans. In the mean time, I think I need another slave drive.

Adik Durhaka

X: Kak Yada Hon, gimana sih supaya keliatan cantik.
Kak Yada Hon: Ya ke Rec trus diet. *sambil melengos*

Hohoho....

Happy Friday

Yours truly with her ever questionable fashion sense succeeded to don on an electric cyan Jimi Hendrix long sleeve (it's 51 degrees outside today). And not to mention her choice of equally bright (orange *gasps* --it's NY's, actually) footwear.

It raises a new meaning to the term complementary color. Will she pull it off? Will people ridicule? We will wait as the day progresses.

Hahaha...Happy Friday!

Miss Rerun

How many times have you been embraced with some sort of an enlightment to be able to catch --or at least you think you do-- the meaning behind something cleverly planned? The one that brings about a sincere smile on your face, lighten it up a bit? Little thing like that makes your uneventful life a bit worth living.

I am talking about the scenes toward the end of The X-Files Season 6's How the Ghost Stole Christmas. There was the clever use of what boiled down as the popular meaning of Christmas as depicted on carols such as this, especially on the following part:

From now on our troubles
Will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore,
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Mulder and Scully exchanged gun shots, followed by Mulder descended on his knees towards where Scully lay down, bloods were all over the two, hence, their "troubles will be miles away" (soon).

As they come to realize what had truly happened, that it was all just in their heads, they become once again two faithful friends.

Hmmmhh, I don't think it tranlates well, it's more of a reference for myself anyway.

I like the sound of the carol played on gramophone on that haunted house, it ties everything up. All in all, one very well written episode.

Dies Veneris

To prevent Kyocera KX414's draining its battery ever so quickly:
Menu-->Settings-->Display-->Screen Saver-->None
Menu-->Settings-->Display-->Backlighting-->5 seconds
Menu-->Settings-->Network-->Digital/Analog-->Automatic

Works like a charm.
.
.
.

Hey, aren't we cute in Kebaya? There are three pairs of sisters there and one Imey.
