purpura: The presence of blood in the skin or mucous membranes. Purpura is caused by defects in the walls of capillaries that have not been sealed off by platelets. The condition is evidenced by tiny red or purple spots appearing on the surface of the skin or mucous membrane.


tetany: A disease caused by a lack of calcium in the blood. The condition causes muscles spasm and violent twitching, especially of the extremities.

hypochondria: Abnormal preoccupation with one's health. Hypochondria may be a concern for health in general, imagining symptoms that change from time to time, usually after assurance by a physician that nothing is wrong, or obsession with a particular ailment or disease, or the condition of a specific organ.

hirsutism: Growth of hair that is excessive or that appears in unusual areas.

ataxia: Lack of muscle coordination. Ataxia may be congenital, that is, existing from birth, or caused by injury or disease of the central nervous system. It is characterized by irregular movements of the body that are unsteady or clumsy as an awkward manner or walking, with feet wide apart or a lack of balance.

adult: One who is fully developed or mature, especially physically and intellectually.
